Valentine's Day

The kids woke up to some snow Valentine's morning and of course in NC that also means no school. Since we don't often get a lot of snow the kids were not too disappointed about missing school Valentine's parties. They were too excited about building their first snowman of the year, which was decked out in heart sequined mittens and hat and conversation hearts. Of course Mommy was a little disappointed that some of her hard work the day before slaving over batch after batch of pink, heart shaped rice crispy treats was slightly in vain. We had a fun day making Valentine's crafts and playing together!

For Valentine's we made a special dinner for the kids. One of their favorite things is breakfast for dinner, so I made heart shaped pancakes with eggs, bacon and fruit. I also made a special strawberry slushie drink. The kids had fun eating then opening a Valentine's present. They each got a game and we played games until bedtime. Dave and I waited to eat until after the kids went to bed. We used a gift certificate we got for Christmas to our favorite Indian restaurant and got a big spread of our favorite dishes. We ate by candlelight then watched a romantic movie while enjoying some dessert.

That's so cute. My kids had school canceled on Valentine's due to snow as well. They were very upset and kept mentioning how no one had given them a Valentine all day. Unfortunately that was true. I gave them 50% off candy the day after.
